Andy Reid: Defensive consultant ‘fabricated’

The rumors started Monday night that the Eagles were looking for a defensive consultant to help struggling defensive coordinator Juan Castillo.

Then, a report surfaced early Wednesday that the team had offered the gig to former Browns/Jets coach Eric Mangini, but he turned it down. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Eagles had offered their vacant defensive coordinator position to Mangini before it was offered to Castillo.

Reid, however, said all the reports were “fabricated” and the Eagles aren’t adding anyone to their coaching staff.

“Nobody. Zero. Nothing,” Reid said.
