Another September to remember for Howard

Mr. September came through once again for the Phillies. If you’re wondering, that’s Ryan Howard.

As the Phillies were racking up 18 wins in their first 21 games in September, Howard was getting hot. The All-Star does that every year.

“I don’t know what it is about September,” said Howard, who recently reached 250 homers in his 855th career game, the fastest to that mark in MLB history.

Howard eclipsed the 100-RBI mark for the fifth straight season, despite a late-season ankle injury.

“I feel really healthy,” Howard said. “I started getting some balls up in the air to left field and left-center, and that’s a good sign for me.”

Howard had 31 homers and 106 RBIs through Sept. 29. All that matters to him is what transpires in October and November.

“First, you get there, and then you focus on one round at a time,” Howard said. “We have experience in here. We’re a hungry group here.”
