Appleheads in Philadelphia will have to wait a bit longer for their first bite of a Center City Apple Store.
Ever since the large wooden scaffolding that hid the glass exterior of the building at 1607 Walnut St. was removed to reveal the streetside facade for the store, rumors abounded that the opening would be this Friday. Alas, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The newest speculation from an insider very familiar with Apple Store openings said it’s likely that the opening will be July 30.
“The tip I received late last week said the grand opening was pushed back one week to July 30th for an unknown reason,” the insider said. “I just checked Apple’s store list and two other U.S. stores have been added as opening this weekend (Lexington Ky., Columbus, Ohio), but not Walnut Street. I believe the Philadelphia store would be listed by now on that Web page if it were to open this [weekend].”
An Apple spokeswoman said yesterday no information is available about the store’s opening.
