Philadelphia photographer Jose Mazariegos recently debuted his latest exhibit, ‘Aquí y Allá,’ at iMPeRFeCT Gallery. The collection presents a poignant visual dialogue between two places he calls home: Guatemala and Philadelphia.
‘Aquí y Allá’ juxtaposes images captured during emotional visits to Guatemala in 2023 and 2024—documenting the funeral and one-year memorial of his mother, Alejandrina Mazariegos Santos—alongside photographs taken in Philadelphia, where Jose studied, built his career, and now lives.
Dedicated to his late mother, the exhibit serves as both tribute and reflection, exploring themes of loss, identity, and the deep-rooted connections that tie us to place.
