2 injured in Philadelphia school stabbing, suspect arrested

Two women were injured and a person was taken into custody by police after a stabbing took place Tuesday afternoon inside a middle school in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

Just after 12 p.m., Philadelphia police responded to a call for a person with a weapon on the 1800 block of Cotton Ave., at Castor Gardens Middle School, where they found the two victims, and the alleged perpetrator.

The first victim, a 63-year old female, was stabbed in the left side of her body. A Medical Unit transported the victim to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time, according to authorities.

A second victim, a 31-year-old female, was stabbed in their right shoulder. The victim refused medical treatment, police said.

An arrest was made by police, a weapon was recovered, and the scene is being held, authorities said.
