Authorities are investigating a suspected arson that significantly damaged multiple homes Wednesday morning in Holmesburg.
The fire started in a rear garage of a house on the 4100 block of Decatur Street, and crews responded at around 4:45 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls, according to police. The PPD said the blaze was placed under control in about 45 minutes.
No one was injured, but the flames displaced residents from two homes, authorities said. Although the PPD described the fire as being an arson, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Fire Department said the incident remains under investigation with the fire marshal’s office. No cause or origin has been determined, according to the fire department.
Officers did not arrest anyone in the immediate aftermath of the arson. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the PPD’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
