It’s been a dry start to the year for some, and to add to the New Year’s resolutions’ momentum (or for those just looking to cut back) there’s a new non-spirit in town… and it’s reportedly a “destroyer of bad vibes.”
The Pathfinder Hemp and Root from Old City’s Art in the Age is a brand-new zero-proof elixir made from fermented and distilled hemp, and it’s officially here to serve up spirit-lifting cocktails with botanical flavors.
Inspired by the golden age of cannabis and already flourishing in Seattle’s top cocktail bars and coffee shops, the Pathfinder Hemp and Root raises the standard of flavor and quality in non-alcoholic spirits with an eye to changing the future of socialization – and not just during Dry January. In drinks, the Pathfinder behaves like a spirit and can be served in coffee, sipped neat, served on the rocks, or used as the base of a cocktail. In other words, it fits right into the back bar of your favorite pub or cafe as well as it does your home bar cart, according to a news release.
“While it’s delicious in a mocktail, in coffee, or even over ice cream, The Pathfinder is not only for people refraining from alcohol,” said spirits maverick Steven Grasse, co-founder of the Pathfinder Hemp and Root and founder of Art in the Age, in a statement. “The spirit actively elevates the flavor profile any (alcoholic) cocktail it’s added to, with its complex palette of botanical ingredients.”
The new spirits, which hit shelves exclusively at the popular bar and tasting room, can also be enjoyed in a unique way starting this week and continuing into next. Art in the Age will be hosting two immersive cocktail workshops featuring the Pathfinder: The Pathfinder “Dry January” Mocktail Workshop on Tuesday at 7 p.m.; and The Pathfinder Cocktail Workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m.
The team of mixologists at AITA have carefully crafted the two workshops almost as precisely as the multi-useful spirits being showcased.
On the 18th, imbibers are invited to shake, stir, and soberly sip their way through two delicious mocktails starring the Pathfinder Hemp and Root. The description of this class is as follows: Admission is $85 and includes a table for two, all necessary ingredients to make two mocktails each, and an intimate, hands-on instruction and demonstration on how to create incredible non-alcoholic beverages using the Pathfinder. Please note: beverages served at this event will be non-alcoholic.
Then next week, those looking to delve more into the world of cocktails over mocktails can have their shot (and drink it too). The description of the class reads: Experts at Art in the Age will demonstrate how the Pathfinder Hemp and Root can elevate any cocktail; be it a classic or riff. Admission is $120 and includes a table for two, all necessary ingredients to make two cocktails each, and an intimate, hands-on instruction and demonstration on how to create unique cocktails (this time, with alcohol).
Tickets for both classes can be found online, and proof of vaccination is also required. The Pathfinder Hemp and Root is now available for purchase online, as well as on-site at Art in the Age (116 N. 3rd St).
