Roxborough’s only dedicated art gallery is reopening — and this time, it’s here to stay.

The Roxborough Development Corporation (RDC) announced the return of Art on the Ridge, a curated gallery featuring artisans and fine artists from Northwest Philadelphia.

The gallery, which debuted last year as a temporary pop-up, is now a permanent fixture on the corridor. RDC leaders say the project is part of a broader effort to activate vacant spaces, support local artists, and increase foot traffic on Ridge Avenue.

“The opening of Art on the Ridge at our new location is a powerful example of how creativity can breathe new life into our commercial corridor,” said Jax Cusack, RDC Executive Director. “We are proud to activate a once-vacant storefront into a space that celebrates our local artists and makers, while strengthening Ridge Avenue as a destination.”

The project is a collaboration between RDC and Baker Street Partners, supported in part by community donations.

The gallery will showcase more than 20 different mediums, from jewelry and photography to quilted wall hangings, crochet, and paintings. Artwork will be available for purchase, and the space will also host workshops, rotating exhibitions and holiday events.

Programming will include hands-on sessions with local artists in collage-making, weaving, and printmaking. A rotating lineup of artists and seasonal programming is expected to keep the gallery fresh for repeat visitors.

“We are incredibly excited to establish a permanent home for our artists,” said Joann Desper, RDC Board President. “This space will not only highlight the incredible creativity in our community but also serve as a hub for artistic expression and economic growth along Ridge Avenue.”

Art on the Ridge, located at 6155A Ridge Ave., is free and open to the public. Hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
