Backfield in motion for Eagles seventh-rounder

There’s an opportunity in the Eagles’ backfield.

It’s up to Bryce Brown to put in the time and effort to grab it. Brown, a surprising seventh-round pick, will get a chance to compete for the backup job behind LeSean McCoy. Despite a limited college career, coach Andy Reid saw raw talent in Brown. Now, it’s up to him to reward the team’s trust.

“I just want to help out any way I can, wherever that’s at and whatever the coaches call on me to do,” Brown said. “If they think I can be a big part of the offense and a part of things, then I’ll take on that responsibility. If not, I’ll just wait until it’s my time and keep working hard.”

Brown admitted that the biggest challenge will be learning how to block. Reid spent extra time at yesterday’s practice to explain proper spacing. The rookie seemed to be an eager and willing student.

“It’s good to be able to get what the coaches are telling you and apply it to the field. Paying attention to details is big out here.”

The Eagles will wrap up their three-day rookie minicamp today in South Philadelphia. Full-team OTAs are scheduled to begin May 22.
