Bail up for cop assault suspect

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA. Bail for the 37-year-old man accused of attacking a city police officer at a South Philadelphia Rite Aid was raised from $100,000 to $250,000 during a preliminary hearing yesterday.

Perry Martin is charged with aggravated assault and related offenses after allegedly flipping a police officer and cracking his ribs. Lt. Douglas Stanford, a 29-year veteran, was attempting to arrest Martin for shoplifting Aug. 18; he’s still unable to work.
