Bank & Bourbon has a new master

Bank & Bourbon is now offering a truly neat experience for all Philadelphians. Sticking to its namesake, the popular hotspot located in the Lowes Philadelphia Hotel recently welcomed a new Bourbon Master, Daniel Kulisek, and an all-new program that will delight all spirit lovers and intrigue all bourbon novices into a whole new world.

According to the release, in this role, Daniel will oversee Bank & Bourbon’s innovative barrel-aged cocktail program and its extensive collection of bourbon, whiskey and rye. At the restaurant, he will work closely with the entire beverage team to craft fresh and creative seasonal cocktails using the finest house-aged spirits and manage the private barrel-aging locker membership program. Daniel will also lead the restaurant’s exclusive Bourbon Tastings, new Distiller Happy Hours Series and highly curated dinners and pairings with some the industry’s most elite brands such as Woodford Reserve and Four Roses.

“Picking a drink to enjoy or pair with your meal can often be overwhelming,” says Dan Rivas, General Manager of Bank & Bourbon in a release. “Daniel will help guide our guests through this process, help to educate them on the notes that they taste and smell, and also assist guests with pairing the right spirit with the right food for a memorable beverage and food experience.”

Kulisek definitely it taking his job seriously. The new Bourbon Master traveled to Kentucky and handpicked two barrels to showcase at the restaurant and Philadelphians can now sample Russell’s Reserve Private Barrel and Four Roses Single OESK on top of Bank & Bourbon’s other appealing offerings.

Russell’s Reserve is smooth, boasting flavors of caramel and vanilla mixed in with notes of red fruits, especially cherry and a hint of spice. This combination was made possible through 10 years of aging. The Four Roses Single OESK has also been aged for ten years but is a bit spicier with notes of tobacco, toffee and cinnamon.

But what would an all-new bourbon program be without an updated menu to compliment it? Bank & Bourbon already loves to switch their menu up to meet seasonal needs, but with Chef Joe Thomas Jr., Kulisek has already paired the caramel, vanilla and oak flavors that often embody bourbon with Bank & Bourbon’s signature dishes such as charcuterie boards, dry-aged steaks and delectable desserts.

Kulisek brings over two decades worth of experience to the hotspot eatery with a previous stop at Square 1682 where he ran the restaurant’s beverage program, overseeing their wine and spirits collection. According to the release, Kulisek has also traveled extensively learning firsthand about different distilleries and the different methods of whiskey production — so he truly is a Bourbon Master.
