Big fun for little ones

It’s the time of year to bring the whole family along. Here are some kid-friendly picks that you will probably enjoy just as much as they will.

‘Cinderella’

Arden Theatre

Nov. 28-Jan. 27

www.ardentheatre.org

You already know the story, but you haven’t seen it quite like this. Now in its 15th year, Arden Children’s Theatre is performing their adaption of the classic tale and backing it with some of Mozart’s most powerful pieces. Stick around after the show for a special question and answer session, where the kids are encouraged to speak with the cast.

‘Nutcracker Magic Children’s Show’

The Academy of Music

Dec. 8

www.paballet.org

This is a chance to let the kids really engage with the beloved holiday favorite. Tickets get you admission to the Pennsylvania Ballet’s iconic show as well as the children’s preparty, where little ones will have lunch, play games, meet the show’s cast and create a card for a patient at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Also on our wish list: Tea with the Sugarplum Fairy before the Dec. 9 and 22 shows.

Countdown to Noon party

Please Touch Museum

Dec. 31

www.pleasetouchmuseum.org

New Year’s Eve is pretty much a grown-ups only party, but youngsters don’t have to be left out at the Please Touch Museum. Bring them downtown and let them ring in the New Year at an hour that is more kid-friendly. With so much excitement, they’ll be sleepy little angels for the babysitter later that night.

Gingerbread house decorating

Wayne Art Center

Dec. 8

www.wayneart.org

Maybe you’ve thought about making a gingerbread house with your kids. And maybe you reconsidered after thinking about the cleanup, not to mention the logistics of successfully assembling a graham cracker building. Round up the rascals and let them go nuts at the Wayne Art Center, where a perfectly constructed house is waiting to be adorned with gumdrops and pretzel sticks.
