Birds control own destiny

It’s been a crazy year in the NFC. Super Bowl favorites like the Saints (5-3) and Packers (5-3) have been up and down. The Giants (5-2) shook off questions about the stability of their head coach and now own the conference’s top record.

The Eagles?

Well, at 4-3, they are just a game behind the Giants in the NFC East, and sit seventh in the conference’s overall standings.

“Like you said, man, it’s wide open,” said Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. “We have to continue to play our game and get better each week and go out and just finish.”

They’ll get a tough test Sunday against Peyton Manning’s Colts, who are riding a three-game winning streak. Not a problem, if the Eagles stay focused.

“We control our own destiny here on out,” tight end Brent Celek said. “If we continue to play well, we’ll be alright.”
