The mysterious disappearance of a young Mayfair woman from a Northern Liberties bar June 30 may have come to a tragic end yesterday, as officials believe her body has been found in rural northwest New Jersey, according to police.
A city police spokesman declined to say whether the body of a woman found in Hackettstown, Sussex County, N.J., is that of Gina Schickling, 22, but an investigator with Northeast Detectives said it initially appears to be. Her father Tom Schickling, when reached by phone yesterday, said “let it go. Please respect our family’s privacy and let it go.”
He said in a Facebook post earlier in the day that “we lost Gina to an unspeakable tragedy.”
Hackettstown police about 60 miles north of Philadelphia found the woman’s body on an abandoned property, according to the Easton Times-Express. The newspaper also reported that Philadelphia police were questioning a 23-year-old man, who was only identified as a possible boyfriend.
