Boldface Dec. 2: A.D. Amorosi rounds up the local gossip

When you hear the names Kenny and Faatimah Gamble, you think classic soul music coming out of the Philadelphia International Records label, and maybe philanthropy through their Universal Companies. Add etiquette to that list when the Gambles host An Evening of Style & Grace, Dec. 3 at University of the Arts, with a fashion show raising money and awareness for social grace and character-building classes.

“We look for information that help youth grow and develop into refined men and women, skills they might not get because of problems that face our community, be it violence, lack of education or self-esteem,” says Faatimah. “It’s necessary to introduce certain life skills that will help them to navigate through polite society.” She’s referring to classes on nutrition, culinary skills, diction and even “how to treat a lady.”

If there’s a trend for Philly restaurateurs, it’s to head underground. That’s what Jose Garces did with Rosa Blanca at Seventh and Chestnut when he opened downstairs lounge Nacional 56, featuring music on weekends and food until 1 a.m. throughout the week. Teddy Sourias of Bru (1318 Chestnut) is about to open his own subterranean bar/music venue, U-Bahn, underneath the restaurant.Dimitri Armenakis did interior design and the cocktail and food menus are locally sourced.

Jazmine Sullivan, 27, is gearing up to release her third R&B album, “Reality Show,” next month. The first single, “Dumb,” featuring Meek Mill — released from prison today — is already out.

Chris Judd, choreographer/ex-husband to Jennifer Lopez, stopped by the brand new Millennium Dance Studio on South Street for class registration. Judd will offer his teaching skills throughout the first semester.

Fergie’s Pub on Sansom Street held a free-for-all 20th anniversary celebration from Thanksgiving Eve until Dec 1. No word yet on the damages.
