When Wale played TLA on Friday, his boss Rick Ross and his label-mate, Philly’s Meek Mill, hung out backstage before joining the rapper on stage. Also there was Nicki Minaj, long rumored to be Mill’s girlfriend. Ross posted this photo to Instagram of the group’s cuddly hang out at 1925 Cocktail Lounge (formerly G Lounge) after the show.

Sound of Philadelphia legend Kenny Gamble, his wife Faatimah, his ex-wife Dyana Williams (now with Old School 100.3 FM), WDAS’ Patty Jackson and councilwoman Marian Tasco attended the opening of “Motown: The Musical” at the Academy of Music.

Vivica Fox and Kate Gosselin, two of Donald Trump’s new Celebrity Apprentices, visited Ralph’s at the Comcast Center to sample voice-recognition remote controls for Comcast Xfinity’s new X1.

Restaurant rumors

Silk City and N. 3rd owner Mark Bee confirmed that Franky Bradley’s, his first restaurant/bar in Center City, will open Jan. 15 at the corner of Juniper and Chancellor. Two years ago, Bee made a deal for the space, which at the time was the just-closed lesbian bar Sisters. Going back further, the corner spot was seafood and steak restaurant Frankie Bradley’s, named for its owner, a legendary Jewish boxer. Bee and chef David Kane are updating the restaurant’s supper club vibe.

The Italian Market area is overflowing with new restaurant deals. Noord chef/co-owner Joncarl Lachman leased 943 S. Ninth St. for a Franco-North African bar/restaurant opening in May.

Nearby, 824 S. Eighth St., most recently The Mildred, just found new operators in the crew from Memphis Taproom for Coeur, an upcoming casual bistro.

There’s also motion on S. 10th St. between Reed and Wharton at the old Triangle bar, with its rumored new owners from Cantina Los Caballitos moving forward with construction.

Plus, an orange liquor-license sticker went up at the corner of 10th and Wharton for a still-unnamed saloon.

Movie news

Philadelphia documentary film director Tigre Hill (“Barrel of a Gun”) found someone to fill the lead role in his first narrative drama, “American Zealot.” Local actor Christopher Mann from “House of Cards” will play Philly civil rights activist Cecil B. Moore .
