Little League World Series star Mo’ne Davis is having a great month despite being an offensive tweet from a (now-dismissed) Bloomsburg University baseball player. Davis released a book, “Remember My Name,” and signed copies at Rittenhouse Square’s Barnes & Noble on Saturday. The Disney Channel announced a making a movie, “Throw Like Mo’.” Plus, Davis got a sneaker line, M4D3, with a percentage of its sales going to children’s charities. Rumor has former Germantown Cricket Club chef Anthony Marini searching East Passyunk Ave., Midtown Village, and Washington Square for his debut restaurant, The Rarest. His concept is raw and rare menu items, such as tartares. Last week, comedian/”Hangover” actor Mike Epps announced and then cancelled a show at the Liacouras Center. But he will be starring as Richard Pryor in director Lee Daniels‘ “Is It Something I Said?” Filming starts in April. Prince Music Theater just reopened with new owners (the Philadelphia Film Society), and now local Mexican food chain Johnny Manana’s will open next door to the Prince by summer.
Christine Hazel, chef at the South Philly location of Chickie’s & Pete’s, is currently competing on “Hell’s Kitchen,” hosted by Gordon Ramsay. “He’s just as you see on TV,” says Hazel of the angry Ramsay. “I’ve learned to be more dominant and a better chef through him.” With its fourth episode behind her, Hazel is hosting a tasting dinner at Chickie’s on March 26, then a “Hell’s Kitchen” viewing party March 31″Never assume anything,” says Hazel about whether she’s won or lost. “Just know we’ll have a good time.” Celebrity sightings
