Bottom-dwelling Phillies en route to Pittsburgh this weekend

The Phillies are leading the pack against all other 31 major league teams in one specific stat–the worst record in baseball.

At 22-39, the Philscertainlyappear ready to make it a long summer for Philadelphia’s faithful fans — many of whom are ready to see them start of shipping out players. But there are still over 100 games left andthe show must go on.

A trip out to PNC Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates is the next stop for the quick eight-game road trip for Philly. It’s a road trip that has started off with sweep courtesy of the Cincinnati Reds.

Andrew McCutchen and company are coming off of a win against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday that prevented them from being swept themselves. The Pirates are 6-3 so far in June and look to improve that record against a Phillies team that is pitching with a third worst 5.29 ERA so far this month.

Recently signed Kevin Correia will be making his first big league start this season in Game 1 of the series. Jeff Locke takes the hill for the Bucs, who must be eager to go against a team he dominates with a 4-0 record and a 1.35 lifetime ERA.

Cole Hamels will look to bounce back from a Monday loss to the Reds. He will face former teammate A.J. Burnett for the series finale. The 38-year-old parted ways last season with the Phils after going 8-18. Burnett is has found success so far this season, compiling a 6-2 record and a 2.11 ERA.
