BREAKING: Eagles sign safety Justin Evans to 1-year deal

He’s not Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, but the Philadelphia Eagles are already looking for ways to solve their massive holes at safety now.

Philadelphia agreed to terms with former Buccaneers and Saints safety, Justin Evans to a one-year deal according to Ian Rappaport of NFL network. Evans recorded 17 tackles and two passes defensed in 15 games as the Saints’ depth safety piece in 2022. Before that, the former second-round pick in 2017 had been out of football from 2018-2021. Pro Football Focus graded Evans’ 2022 season at an above-average 61.

In two seasons in Tampa, Justin Evans recorded four interceptions and eight passes defensed. He has dealt with injuries to his Achilles, and shoulder and was later placed on the “failed physical” designation.

Eagles making more moves?

While Evans has dealt with injuries throughout his career, the Texas A&M product joins a safety room with K’Von Wallace and Reed Blankenship competing for time.

And it might not be the only move the Eagles make at the position either. There are plenty of options available for the Eagles so its only a matter of time until they fill up those holes.
