The Philadelphia Eagles walked into MetLife Stadium with vague hopes of retaining their NFC East crown. It didn’t take long for those hopes, and larger ones, to derail. With 3 minutes remaining in the first quarter, wide receiver A.J Brown went down with an apparent knee injury.
He has since been labeled as questionable to return.
The good news is that A.J Brown walked off to the locker room under his own power, with fans barely even noticing a limp.
A long-term injury would be absolutely heartbreaking for the Eagles wideout, who has been one of the teams’ top contributors this season. Having been named to the Pro Bowl just days ago, Brown’s influence on the team has become imperative on and off the field. His leadership has become visible, with a players-only meeting being called on the back of a highly impressive locker room interview that saw him take accountability for his emotional persona.
Losing Brown for the playoffs would be gut-wrenching for Philadelphia, especially given that DeVonta Smith already had to sit this week with an injury.
Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and Brown is back on the field next week. Given his walk back to the locker room, I’d like to think signs are pointing in a positive direction.
Stay tuned for updates.
