According to ESPN insider Ian Rapoport, the Philadelphia Eagles have released former Pro Bowl linebacker Devin White. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer signed a 1 year, $4-million contract with Philadelphia this offseason. The majority of the contract was guaranteed at $3.5 million.
When Howie Roseman signed White in March 2024, the expectation was a quick-footed linebacker that would help assist the defense against the run. That was White’s hallmark that endeared him to Buccaneers’ fans around the world. Over the summer, it appeared that Devin White showcased strongly at the NovaCare Complex. However, when training camp broke and the Eagles flew south to Brazil, Devin White was on the trainers’ table instead of the gridiron with an ankle injury.
A month later, the Eagles decided to part ways with the five-year NFL veteran before he had a chance to wear the Midnight Green. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio’s defense will proceed forward without the veteran linebacker, meanwhile Devin White will likely seek another opportunity with another NFL team this season if he is healthy enough to play.
