A man is hospitalized after he hit a parked car, crashed into a house and his vehicle burst into flames in Bridesburg early this morning.
The man, 72, was driving southbound on the 2600 block of Thompson Street in his 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis around 2:50 a.m. when he struck a parked car, then crashed through the rear of a home.
His vehicle burst into flames upon impact. The man was rescued by members of the fire department and a pedestrian.
He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital with complaints of hip pain, but is in stable condition.
According to a police spokeswoman, the crash caused potential structural damage to the house. L&I will investigate the extent of the damage.
No other injuries were reported. It is unclear why the man lost control of the car.
