Bryce Harper could miss Tuesday’s game against the Rangers

Most players encounter blisters during types of training sessions, practices, or games and Bryce Harper is no stranger to this ailment. What is troubling, though, is the fact that his blister is now infected and could potentially keep him from playing in Texas on Tuesday.

Bryce Harper would be a huge loss for the Phils

As of late, it seems like the Phillies can’t be stopped as they’ve posted a 15-3 record since the beginning of June and just stole 4 of 5 games against Washington over the weekend. Harper was a key contributor in game three against the Nationals when he slapped a two-run, pinch-hit double to complete the Friday night sweep. The following day, he stated that the hit from the night prior caused his blister to swell up and become infected thus leaving him unable to swing a bat.

The good news here is that his blister has healed and the infection is now under control after the slugger received antibiotics to treat it. The blister has apparently been on his left hand for the past few weeks but only became a problem once swelling and infection crept in. Monday’s off-day will also play a crucial role in aiding his recovery time but the future is still uncertain for his return.

Bryce Harper currently ranks second in the NL in OBP (1.013), third in batting average (.326), and sixth in RBIs (48). If those numbers aren’t any indication that this team needs him now more than ever then I don’t know what does. Coming off of an MVP season and still putting up video game stats like that doesn’t happen often which only continues to prove his case to possibly win the award again this year.

Looking Ahead

Tonight, the Phils will load up and fly down to Arlington, TX to face the Rangers in a two game series at Globe Life Park. The Lone Star Studs currently rank 22nd in batting average (.234) and 20th in ERA (4.06) while also rocking a two-game losing streak heading into this matchup.
