The Eagles saw enough evidence in Josh Huff’s impending legal battle over having possession of an illegal firearm, illegal bullets and marijuana to cut the third year player last week.
The Buccaneers saw past his recent issues and inked the player to their practice squad.
“We signed him to the practice squad. That’s it,” Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said via ESPN.com. “All your practice squad guys are developmental guys you’re trying to look at. We had Josh in the Senior Bowl a few years ago when I was coaching in Atlanta. We’ve got 10 guys on our practice squad and we’re trying to develop those guys into guys who could help us down the road.”
Huff won’t be suiting up with Tampa’s 53-man roster for the time being, as the 25-year-old will be relegated to helping the Bucs in practice as a member of the 10-player practice squad. The wideout was thankful to Philly for his time with the Eagles.
“I have support on and off the field, whether I was here or whether I was in Philadelphia. I just made a bad decision at that time. I will learn from it and move forward,” Huff said. “I had the belief in my faith that God was gonna put me in a place where he wanted me to be at. Obviously he wanted me to be in Tampa with a great group of guys. I’m just ready to move forward from that situation and start new here.”
