Bud Light to celebrate Nick Foles, SB VII champs with ‘Philly Philly’ bottles

After one of the most unique careers the NFL has ever seen, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles announced his retirement Thursday morning. This announcement sent a flood of emotion across Greater Philadelphia.

Perhaps no player better encompassed Philadelphia’s underdog mentality than Nick Foles in his 2018 playoff performance. Looking back on the majority of his career, some may call him a journeyman, but to those in Philadelphia, Foles was—and most certainly will always be—a legend.

In honor of Foles’ retirement, the Philadelphia Eagles’ official beer sponsor, Bud Light, is releasing 52 limited-edition commemorative Philly Philly bottles that pay homage to the legendary play and the Eagles’ victory in Super Bowl VII.

These bottles will come encased in a Philly Philly-style wooden display box. Each box will include a voucher for 52 days worth of Bud Light. For a chance to land one of these limited edition items, fans can comment #PhillyPhillySweeps on the dedicated post across Bud Light’s socials.

In addition to these limited products, Bud Light will also host an epic experience with the help of another former Eagle who led the team to their first-ever Super Bowl win.

On Sept. 16, ahead of Foles’ retirement ceremony at the Eagles’ home opener against the Atlanta Falcons, Bud Light will be joined by Eagles legend Fletcher Cox for the ultimate Philly Philly fan experience.

The fun is set to take place at Xfinity Live’s NBC Sports Arena, where Fletcher Cox will be passing out Bud Light to fans 21 or over to get ready for the Birds’ home debut.

But how did this all happen?

Once Foles made his announcement, the idea didn’t take long to manifest. After a strong reception from the public and notable excitement added by Fletcher Cox himself, the chain of events was set into motion.

“This year, Nick and I both made the decision to hang up our cleats and had the honor of doing so as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles,” said Cox. “Calling it a career has brought back so many special memories of winning Super Bowl 52 and the epic “Philly Philly” celebration from Bud Light, who rallied around us and our incredible fans throughout the championship season.
