Cab crashes through Sneakertown in Roxborough

A cab crashed through the Sneakertown Apparel storefront in Roxborough this afternoon.

Authorities were called to the scene on the 6100 block of Ridge Avenue around 2:30 p.m. According to police, the cab had just turned left off of Leverington Avenue when it lost control and smashed into the store.

The owner and two employees were inside during the incident, but neither reported injuries and L&I declared there was no structural damage to the building.

The taxi driver, 64, was taken to Temple University Hospital with complaints of right side pain. He is in stable condition.

It is unclear what made him lose control of the car or whether charges will be filed.
