Can the Eagles expect a big season out of Dallas Goedert in 2023?

The Eagles had an incredible season last year and part of it was due to their pass catchers. While the wide receivers have received a ton of praise for their work in 2022, Dallas Goedert’s impact has seemingly flown under the radar.

The tight end started the season as the focal point of the offense and a big security blanket for Jalen Hurts. Goedert made play after play for the Eagles’ offense. From week 1 up until week 9, Dallas had 43 receptions for 544 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

After going down with a shoulder injury, Jalen Hurts had to rely on the playmaking ability of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. He came back for three more games to finish the season with 702 receiving yards on 5 receptions and three touchdowns.

Had Goedert stayed healthy then he could’ve crossed the 1,000-yard mark with the Eagles and went on to have a career year. Which brings me to the 2023 season. Goedert will have another year under his belt with Jalen Hurts which could mean that the tight end is in her a big year with the Eagles.

Open season for Dallas Goedert?

The Eagles only added TE Dan Arnold and WR Olamide Zaccheus as their veteran pass catches this offseason but there’s another player that could help open things up more for Dallas Goedert.  The Eagles traded for RB De’Andre Swift who not only will be a weapon in the backfield but could also help the pass game for the Eagles.

Adding this wrinkle to their offense means that defenses will have to pick their poison in the middle of the field. It’s either you sacrifice a player to cover the big tight end or you sacrifice one to cover the speedy running back.

Eagles secret weapon?

If Dallas can stay healthy for the entire season then the Eagles could see a huge year out of their homegrown tight end. It seems as if when the national media speaks about tight ends, they usually leave out Dallas Goedert. There’s a good chance that changes after this upcoming season.
