Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole a vehicle, struck a teenage victim and then fled the scene on foot Wednesday night.
At around 9 p.m., Kevin Rican Maldonado,18, was crossing Old York Road at Luzerne Street in the Hunting Park neighborhood when a white Toyota Prius struck him, NBC10 reported.

Philadelphia Police Chief InspectorScott Small said Maldonado flew 30 feet down the road and into a parked minivan.
The driver, who investigators have described as a heavyset woman with long hair and wearing a dress, stopped the vehicle on the 1300 block of West Pike Street and fled the scene on foot.
Maldonado was taken to Temple University Hospital, suffering severe head injuries. He died a short time after. He was a junior at Edison High School.

Several months ago the Prius was reported stolen from the Philadelphia suburbs. Neighbors told investigators the suspect is often seen driving the vehicle,CBS3 reported.
“We’re pretty confident we will find her and find out if she was driving the vehicle that struck and killed the 18-year-old,” Small said.
