From Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, Celebrate Catholic Schools Week will be in full swing, and in the Greater Philadelphia area, schools typically observe the week with masses, assemblies and other activities for students. This year will hold the theme “Catholic Schools: Unity in Faith and Community.”
Here are some of the events happening throughout Philadelphia.
Sunday, Jan. 28
To kick off the week, Immaculate Heart of Mary School will host a kick-off mass at 10:30 a.m. followed by an Open House (email tuition@iheartmary.org to schedule a tour.) Blessed Trinity Catholic School will also be hosting an opening mass this date at 9:30 a.m. Students who wear their uniform to the mass will get a dress down coupon to use one day in school.
For Saint Katherine of Siena School, this day also kicks off their week-long bookfair for Catholic Schools Week.
Monday, Jan. 29
This first day of Catholic Schools Week at Notre Dame Regional High School will feature service projects during Theology classes. Faculty will also be treated to breakfast.
Blessed Trinity Catholic School will host a Community Helpers Breakfast and also a dress-up day for students to dress as community helpers or super heroes.
Tuesday, Jan. 30
On this day, Notre Dame Regional will host a pajama day, treats at lunch, games in classrooms and a 2 p.m. early dismissal.
Blessed Trinity Catholic School will host an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. and students can wear colors that represent their culture.
Wednesday, Jan. 31
While at Notre Dame Regional on this date, students can wear red, white or blue dress code shirts and there will also be a 10:30 a.m. assembly that all are welcome to join. As the school’s official site states, while there, they will award Marian Charities Scholarships and have National Art Honor Society and Tri-M inductions, plus a patriotic prayer service. They’ll also host Adoration with praise and worship at 6 p.m.
On this date, Christ the King Elementary will be hosting an Open House. Their Facebook read that they “extend a special welcome to all current students and their families to partake in an enriching experience showcasing their unique class projects.”
Blessed Trinity Catholic School will host a full dress down day for students/ crazy hair day along with games.
Thursday, Feb. 1
Notre Dame Regional High School will host an assembly to honor religious vocations for Catholic Schools Week.
At Blessed Trinity Catholic School, students can dress for their future profession and guest speakers will also visit classrooms.
Friday, Feb. 2
On the last day of the school week, Notre Day Regional will welcome Bishop Rice to celebrate mass with their students and faculty at 10 a.m. Faculty and staff will be provided lunch.
Blessed Trinity Catholic School will host an early noon dismissal, and students can also dress as their favorite teacher.
