Celebrate August in Philly with the Peach Festival

As we all know, August is National Peach Month. This delectable fruit is finally in season, and we are just peachy with excitement. (Get it?) With fall just around the corner, you should definitely enjoy August while it lasts–and one of the best ways to celebrate is with Linvilla Orchard’s Peach Festival.

This year’s Peach Festival is being held on Saturday, August 6th in the Linvilla Orchards Entertainment Garden. Picking your own fruit begins at 8am, so get there early and enjoy the fields before it gets too hot.

The theme is ‘Summer Olympics’, so there will be lots of fun games to enjoy as well. There will be an egg toss, bean bag toss, balloon relays and Olympic-themed crafts. The festival is being hosted by Makin Music, and they are bringing family-friendly entertainment with them! There will be games, crafts, prizes–so many activities to enjoy!

Visitors will also be able to enjoy other parts of Linvilla Orchards throughout the day. You can visit the gardens and enjoy the different plants and greenery, even buy yourself a little something to take home too! (I’m sure your mom would love some flowers). You can also enjoy a hayride, a train ride or even a ride on a pony! Kids can visit the playground and even get their faces painted, and when you’re ready for lunch, visit the Grill and Farm Market for a yummy treat.

If one festival isn’t enough to fill your fancy, don’t worry—Peddler’s Village has a Peach Festival and Summer Sidewalk Sale coming up. It’s taking place on August 13th and 14th. The festival runs all day from 10am until 6pm all weekend, rain or shine. Even better—admission and parking are free, so the only spending that you have to worry about is what delicious treats you’ll be taking home.

It’ll be a peachy weekend in Peddler’s Village with baked goods, jams, and other products available for purchase, along with live entertainment for the kids, and deals all through the shops.

Now, what to do with all those peaches that you picked? There are tons of great ways to enjoy your fruit this month, like some easy peach turnovers. All you need is an egg, a little bit of cinnamon, some brown sugar, a package of puff pastry, some lemon juice, your peaches and boom! A quick and easy dessert that’s sure to be delicious. While there’s definitely more where that came from, make sure you grab enough to last you a while before they disappear for the season.
