As soon as two new skateable sculptures were unveiled in Paine Park along the Schuylkill River,BMX riders Nick and Trey Maltese, above, as well as skateboarders were on it.
The new sculptures, designed by Jonathan Monk, are the first of 14 pieces of public art to be installed between now and October as part of “Open Source: Engaging Audiences in Public Space,” a Mural Arts Program project.
Other artists who will be involved in the public art series include:JR, Shepard Fairey, Odili Donald Odita, Sterling Ruby, SWOON andMichelle Angela Ortiz.
