After a year-long hiatus, Philly-area’s own Chestnut Grove is back with a new lineup, new music, and new tour dates. It all kicks off this weekend, with a headlining performance at the Ardmore Music Hall on Saturday, June 14, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their first full-length album, Perkiomenville.

Known for their ability to blend genres with indie, alternative, new wave, and rock n’ roll sounds, the band is back with a couple of new additions to its five-piece combo: Jared Filer on bass and vocals and Shannon Murphy on keys, violin, and vocals. With their new lineup assembled, Chestnut Grove returns as they get ready to tour throughout 2025 and plan on releasing brand new music this summer.

“I am so thrilled to have the ability to play live again,” says guitarist, percussionist and co-lead vocalist, Dee Gerhart. “I know James, John, and myself always planned to continue writing, and recording however we could after our hiatus, but being able to share that live connection with the audience is irreplaceable. We are lucky to have found Jared and Shannon as they are fantastic additions to the band.”

Hitting the Philly music scene in 2011, Chestnut Grove soon began touring the country, sharing the stage with The Hooters, Turkuaz, Ron Gallo of Toy Soldiers, Cyril Neville & the R.S.B., The Felice Brothers, and more before the 2020 pandemic brought touring to a halt.

Chestnut Grove continued to write, record, and release new music, however, and as venues began reopening, the band was ready to rock, making appearances as part of WXPN’s Xponential Music Festival and WXPN’s Free at Noon concert series.

Now, in 2025, the band hits the road again with a ten-stop tour, beginning this Friday, June 13, with a performance at the Riverboat Bar in Alexandria Bay, New York, before their performance at the Ardmore. From there, the band will continue to tour New York, while making stops in Indiana, Wisconsin, and another Northwestern Pennsylvania performance in Girard.
