Child struck by SUV in Strawberry Mansion hit-and-run

Police are searching for the driver of a black SUV that struck a child in the city’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhood.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 33rd Street and Susquehanna Avenue on Thursday, June 5, at approximately 9 p.m. A 3-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle after he ran into the street while being placed into his family’s car, according to authorities.

Police believe that he was hit by a black SUV and potentially also by a white pickup truck. Both vehicles fled the scene. The SUV was last seen in the area of 32nd and Diamond streets, according to police.

The victim was treated at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and later released.

Police are seeking the public’s help — anyone with information regarding the vehicles or the crash should call 215-685-3180 or 215-685-3181. People can also use an electronic form to submit a tip anonymously.
