Chip Kelly, DeSean Jackson get banter flowing between Eagles, Redskins

It’s shaping up as though the Eagles and Redskins could be engaging in a war of words this season, with most of the banter focused on Washington wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

One day after a story broke that Jackson called Philly fans “negative,” Eagles head coach Chip Kelly used some negative verbiage to describe his former player – saying that Jackson never drew double-teams last season.

“I think most people played us in single high coverage and they played man across the board on anybody and no one was getting any help,” Kelly told ESPN. “Riley [Cooper] was getting man coverage on his side. DeSean was getting man on his side. Jason Avant was getting man in the slot. Zach Ertz, whoever our tight end was, was getting manned. Running back was getting manned.”

Most of the uproar regarding Jackson’s release in the offseason was focused on the idea that because Jackson was being double-teamed, it allowed more running room up front for LeSean McCoy.
