Chip Kelly enjoys giving back to community

Chip Kelly participated in his first Playground Build event with the Eagles Wednesday in North Philly.

The Eagles held the 17th annual Playground Build and Play 60 Challenge Field Day Wednesday at the WD Kelley School in North Philadelphia.

The entire organization, including some 300 employees and owner Jeffrey Lurie, showed up to help paint and build. Players happily interacted with students and signed autographs. Mike Vick received one of the loudest cheers when he stepped off the bus.

The Eagles, a franchise known for its charitable works and giving back to the community, do this every year. However, this marked the first time for new coach Chip Kelly. He seemed to enjoy every minute.

“I believe it’s an obligation, that you should give back to the community when you get some time,” Kelly told reporters. “It’s fun for the kids, it’s really fun for us, too. It’s a win-win situation.”
