City Council freshmen have new nickname

Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. announced his a name for City Council’s freshman legislators at session today.

“I want to be the first to dub them with a new nickname,” he said. “From now on, when I refer them to them as group, I’ll call them the serious six.”

Jones Jr. said that he was encouraged and impressed by the efforts of Councilmembers Cindy Bass, Mark Squilla, David Oh, Kenyatta Johnson, Dennis O’Brien and Bobby Henon to take on serious issues in their first term.

He specifically cited Henon taking on slumlords in his district, Oh attempting to secure services for veterans, Bass and Squilla’s efforts to combat blight in their districts and Johnson’s tackling of city gun violence.
