Cobbs Creek shooting leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

A man was killed and three other people were wounded when gunfire erupted Saturday night in the Cobbs Creek section of West Philadelphia, authorities said.

The shooting occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on the 900 block of S. 58th Street, according to police.

Investigators said a 23-year-old man who was shot several times in his torso died at around 11:15 p.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania – Cedar Avenue. Authorities have not publicly identified him.

Two women, both 20 years old, were shot multiple times and later listed in stable condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, police said. The fourth victim, a 20-year-old man, was struck in his leg and was being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

The PPD reported no arrests in the immediate aftermath of the deadly shooting, and there was no word on a possible motive.

Less than 24 hours earlier, at around 11:45 p.m. Friday, a 29-year-old man was shot on the same block of S. 58th Street, investigators said. He was expected to survive.
