Collegefest comes to Dilworth Park

First impressions are lasting ones. So imagine starting your freshman year of college here in Philadelphia. You probably know very little about the city other than perhaps our unwarranted reputation as “horrible sports fans” and being home to the famed Liberty Bell. Oh, and then there’s that whole “Rocky” thing. But truth be told, you’re excited to see what the city has to offer for the next four years (hopefully longer.)

Welcome to Collegefest 2016 ! Presented by Campus Philly, this annual event is the city’s opportunity to showcase the arts, culture and delicious noms that makes Philadelphia world class.

Kicking off at Dilworth Park on Saturday, September 10, that college ID of yours will grant free admission to a host of museums including: Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, African American Museum in Philadelphia, Franklin Institute, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, Philadelphia History Museum, and the National Museum of American Jewish History with free transportation to and from courtesy of the Philly PHLASH.

If you prefer to try and win some free stuff (what college student doesn’t), Dilworth Park will have a variety of games and giveaways from Capital One, IKEA, SEPTA and other local businesses.

Bonus! The two schools (one large and small) with the highest participation at CollegeFest will be awarded the Campus Philly Cup. Talk about team spirit!

“Philadelphia is one of the only cities in the country that makes this welcome for college students and Campus Philly continues that welcome all year round with our internship, culture and civic programming. That’s one reason why 64% of students stay in Philadelphia after graduating, compared to an average of 41% in other regions.” says Deborah Diamond, president of Campus Philly.

Not currently a student? Collegefest is open to all but you will need that college ID for the free wristband that guarantees free admission to the participating museums as well as complimentary rides on the PHLASH.

And hopefully not too soon after Collegefest (or even before), you’ll learn about this magical place called Wawa.

See you September 10!
