Concourse Dance Bar has always been a go-to for those looking for a fun spot with an eclectic atmosphere. But now, the Center City locale has debuted a new set of changes.

The colorful venue known for housing a slide as an entrance to its dance floor and a ball pit next to one of its bars has added fresh elements to create a new option for evening activities and private events in Philadelphia.

“[The re-design is] a nightclub that could be described as an immersive nightlife experience that combines playful elements and sophisticated aesthetics,” says Avram Hornik, CEO of FCM Hospitality in a statement. FCM is also the brains behind of some other concepts in Philly — including the waterside hotspot Morgan’s Pier, the seasonal traveling beer garden, Parks on Tap, plus other fan favorites like Rosy’s Taco Bar and Liberty Point.

With Concourse, the 15,000 square foot, two-story venue is one of the city’s larger event spaces, with room for 1,400 for private events complete with concert-level speakers, a state-of-the-art light system, a dancefloor, and second-floor mezzanine, a release notes.

The twisty slide is still there to greet guests upon entrance, and the ball pit (known as “The Pool”) is still a feature for the space as well. The latter allows 20 guests at a time to “frolic together” amidst the bubble like balls, neon lighting and a wall sculpture made from Styrofoam pool noodles.

Those who made it to Concourse during their redesign in 2021 might also remember the addition of an Ice Bar in the back room, the first and only of its kind in the city. The chilly addition to the space is still there, and the 1,000 square foot space also houses local creations by artist Peter Slavin, including a picture of Flyers mascot Gritty.

The new sensory additions to the venue also span a room filled with Slinkys, a cocktail lounge on the top floor, and a dollhouse vignette with a black-lit Mushroom Room in the back of it (complete with a six-foot mushroom statue and neon-lit plants.) A vintage photo booth will also be on-site to offer black and white photo strip mementos to take home.

At the bar, Philadelphians can find a slew of different cocktails (like an apple cider sangria, a maple whiskey sour and more), a selection of beer and wine, and their signature Fishbowl (made with Double Vodka, Blue Curacao, Sprite, lemon and Swedish Fish) for $18.

“It’s a venue designed for adults to unleash their inner child, featuring a colorful ball pit for whimsical fun, an ice bar for a unique and visually striking drink experience, and interactive art exhibits that engage all the senses,” finished Hornik. “It’s more than just a place to dance — it’s a blend of art, entertainment, and social interaction, creating a multi-sensory playground that redefines the traditional nightlife scene.”

The casual, laid back Concourse Dance Bar ( 1635, Back Entrance, Market Street) does not have a dress code and does not offer bottle service, the release also notes. Rotating guest DJs will play a variety of throwback tunes from the 80s, 90s, and 00s each night (Fridays and Saturdays.)
