Philadelphia police have arrested a roofing contractor for allegedly making false reports to police regarding a Saturday afternoon accident in the Bustleton section of Northeast Philadelphia.
Investigators said a man, 38, was replacing segments of the roof at an apartment complex on the 8800 block of Krewstown Road.
The worker shortly after 11 a.m. fell through the roof and into an apartment, landing on a couch, according to authorities.
Police said the man was uninjured, but parts of the roof stuck a 12-year-old girl who was lying on the floor watching television.
The girl was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale with two possibly broken fingers.
The owner of the roofing company contracted to perform the work, 60-year-old John Paul Kravchak, of Collingdale, Pa., allegedly told officers he was the person who fell through the roof.
An investigation revealed Kravchak’s statement to be false, police said.
Kravchak was arrested and will be charged with making false reports to law enforcement officials.
