Contreras signs 2-year contract

The Phillies re-signed relief pitcher Jose Contreras to a two-year, $5.5 million contract.

The contract includes a club option for 2013.

The 39-year-old Cuban pitcher was 6-4 last season with a 3.34 ERA?in 67 appearances. He had previously been a starter before 2010.

Other Phillies free agent pitchers include Jamie Moyer, Chad Durbin and J.C. Romero.

In his eight-year career, Contreras is 77-67 with a 4.55 ERA.
