Police have identified a man arrested in connection with a Thursday evening shootout with a Philadelphia police officer.
Police say William Nobblen, 35, pulled a gun on Officer Daniel Kostick on the 5000 block of Master Street at about 10 p.m. after the bicycle officer stopped him as part of a narcotics investigation.
Nobblen reportedly said “I don’t want to have to do this,” before shooting Kosktick. Kostick was able to return fire.
Both men were struck in the arm during the shootout.
Nobblen fled on foot, officers say. He was located in the rear of a home on the 5000 block of West Master Street. He was transported to Hahnemann Hospital in critical condition.
Kostick was released from Presbyterian Hospital Friday afternoon.
Nobblen, the the 4200 block on Leidy Avenue has prior arrests for robbery and drug violations.
He will be charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, police said.
