Eight months after a beautiful paralegal was found dead in a prominent Philadelphia lawyer’s bathtub, prosecutors have announced that an investigation has found no reason for criminal charges in her death.
“The investigation into the death of Julia Law has concluded and there was no evidence of criminal activity found,” said a statement released today by the office of District Attorney Seth Williams.
Julia Law, 26, was the girlfriend of prominent criminal defense lawyer A. Charles Peruto Jr. She was found dead May 25 inside his Rittenhouse Square home.
Law, a Drexel University graduate who worked as a paralegal at Peruto’s Philly-based law firm, was found floating face-down and naked in a bathtub.
“Julia was a beautiful, caring free spirit hippy, who I was blessed to have known,” Peruto said in a statement at the time. “Words can’t express how sad I am to finally have met someone who I believed truly loved me. You should all have someone touch your life, like she did mine. Pray for her. She was an angel.”
Reports say Peruto, 58, was visiting the Jersey Shore when police pulled Law’s body from the tub.
Authorities say a maintenance man found Law’s body just around 10 a.m. Saturday.
She was pronounced dead shortly after she was found.
