DA: Cops justified in April shooting

In a separate police-involved-shooting case, District Attorney Seth Williams said yesterday that three plain-clothes officers justifiably shot Vincent Parson to death during a foot chase April 2 in Germantown.

Officers Leonard Wright, James Allen, Oronde Watson and Bryan Outterbridge saw Parsons on the front porch of a house in the 200 block of Clapier Street. They thought he was his brother Stephen, who was wanted on a bench warrant for gun violations. When they approached him, Parsons — who had an outstanding federal warrant on weapons charges — ran into the Happy Hollow Playground, gun in hand.

Parsons was instructed to drop his gun but he “pointed his gun and fired off two rounds at Officer Allen,” Williams said.

“The officers had no other choice but to fire back.”
