The District Attorney’s Office today filed drug charges against two men after police responded to a burglary call in Juniata Park, but found a grow house instead.
Marcus Rolon, 22, and Carlos Rodriguez, 39, are charged with possession with the intent to distribute, conspiracy and weapons offenses for allegedly operating the pot plant.
Officers yesterday responding to a burglary in progress call on the 1800 block of East Sedgely Avenue found the home’s door open and bolt cutters on the ground, according to investigators.
Smelling marijuana, the officers went inside, where they allegedly found eight pounds of packaged marijuana and 16 pot plants, along with headlamps, generators and electrical cords. Rolon and Rodriguez were taken into custody.
Both men were arraigned this morning. Bail was set at $2 million for Rolon and $1.5 million for Rodriguez. Both remain jailed at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility.
The suspects are next due in court on Jan. 28 for a Nebbia hearing to ensure any bail money posted comes from legitimate sources.
