Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse with its high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and an open space is perfect for an event like the Gingerbread House Workshop. Taking place on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.,the restaurant will be donating all proceeds to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Three pastry chefs joining the Christmastime activity are Robert Bennett from Classic Cake and James Rodebaugh from Brûlée Catering, both of whom have participated in the event for many years and Candice Holovich, Davio’s new pastry chef, who will be leading the event as well. Anny Deirmenjianthe PR Marketing Director for Davio’s says the event has turned into a Christmas tradition with many families coming back year after year.
Kids are given a gingerbread house kit with supplies to assemble their gingerbread house, and after a lunch break, buckets filled with candy to decorate their creations. Deirmenjian said kids can expect a wonderful experience with holiday music playing in the background and a visit from Santa with pictures included. Davio’s also has a large Christmas tree with decorations on display to add to the holiday atmosphere. “It’s really important for us and that’s why we do it every year,” Deirmenjian notes. “We really like to see those families coming back and enjoying the experience.”
Families are encouraged to bring one unwrapped present to donate to kids at CHOP, who do not have access to the presents from Toys for Tots.
The admission fee, which is $60 for kids includes the gingerbread house and an upscale buffet lunch with Philly cheesesteak spring rolls, mac and cheese, meatballs and more. The admission fee for adults accompanying their children and joining in on the fun is free and the lunch will be $30. Call Davio’s at215-563-4810 to register for the event. If you go:
