Detectives released images Monday in an attempt to identify the driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash Sunday morning on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Lower Northeast.
The collision happened just before 8 a.m. when someone behind the wheel of a black SUV lost control of their vehicle and struck a Ford F-150 in the Boulevard’s inner northbound lanes at Adams Avenue, according to authorities.
Police said the impact caused the truck to overturn. The driver – identified as 57-year-old Kelvin Williams, of North Philadelphia – was partially ejected and died at the scene, investigators said. Two passengers in the Ford were hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the PPD.
Law enforcement officials suspect that the fleeing SUV is a newer-model Jeep Grand Cherokee. The car’s windows were heavily tinted, along with the license plate cover, authorities added.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the PPD’s Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180 or call or text the tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
