Delaware family adopts dog found with deep neck cuts in Philly on St. Patrick’s Day

A 6-month-old puppy, who was found last month with deeps cuts to her neck after being left tied for weeks inside an Upper Darby home, is getting a second chance at happiness.

Clover, the shepherd-pit bull terrier mix was adopted on Sunday by Delaware resident Gail Bruce and her family, according to the Delco SPCA.

The pup was rescued last month after a property manager at an Upper Darby home on Clover Lane discovered her and contacted Humane Society Police Officer Ron Riggle.

According to the Delco SPCA, the dog was found inside the home tied to a bannister with a cable wire, which she was able to chew herself out of. Authorities believe the dog was left for three to four weeks.

After rescuing Clover, the Delco SPCA conducted an emergency surgery to clean and remove any diseased tissue. Delco SPCA Director of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Kim Boudwin performed Clover’s extensive multiple neck reconstructive surgeries, all made possible through donations.

A malnourished female cat, later named “Charmer” by the Delco SPCA, was also found inside the house.

According to the organization, animal cruelty charges against Clover’s previous owner are currently pending.
