A 14-year-old boy is being charged as an adult for his alleged role in a shooting that left three teenagers injured Friday in Dilworth Park, next to a popular ice rink and holiday market, police said.

Over the weekend, investigators said they were still searching for additional suspects. The incident did not seem to deter crowds who flocked to Christmas Village and other Center City attractions Saturday.

The shooting happened at around 4:30 p.m. Friday, when multiple shots were fired during a dispute between a group of teens outside City Hall, Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore told reporters at the scene.

A 14-year-old boy was struck and rushed to Jefferson University Hospital in extremely critical condition, according to the PPD. Authorities said two other boys – ages 14 and 15 – were each shot in the leg and hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is being charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy, possessing an instrument of crime and reckless endangerment, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the PPD’s Shooting Investigation Group at 215-686-8270 or call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477).
