Dine Latino Restaurant Week shines a light on diverse businesses

Last year, The Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce put together Dine Latino Restaurant Week for a one-time-only occasion. However, after the success of 2020, the GPHCC has decided to have another go-around for 2021. Beginning on Cinco De Mayo, May 5, until May 9, Philadelphians will be able to indulge in a variety of Latino cuisines from multiple local spots.

“We initially launched Dine Latino Restaurant week as a one-time-only campaign in 2020 in response to the pandemic, and we saw that it was very successful in not only boosting sales, but in creating additional exposure for the diverse set of Latino owned businesses in Philadelphia,” said Jennifer Rodriquez, President of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in a statement. “The 2020 initiative yielded so much success that we’ve decided to bring it back for 2021, and adopt it as a permanent initiative for the chamber.”

Additionally, the GPHCC is dedicated to helping Latino restaurant owners as they navigate a new way of doing business. After the success of the inaugural Dine Latino Restaurant Week, the GPHCC was able to deliver $15,000 in micro-grants to participating restaurants. As part of this year’s effort to provide support for Latino-owned and operated restaurants, the GPHCC is partnering with Visit Philadelphia to provide professional photography services to participants and has launched an Instagram account (@DineLatino_PHL), dedicated solely to promoting dining Latino in the Philadelphia region year-round.

Throughout the five-day period starting this week, Philadelphians and foodies will be able to sample one complimentary appetizer or dessert with the purchase of two dinner entrees. The promotion will take place during dinner service only, with options for takeout, delivery, and select indoor/outdoor dining.
